Testimonials & Reviews for Di Barry Counselling

Di Barry Counselling Reviews

I have listed below some of the lovely words my private clients have shared with me about our work together:

I’ve had 2 occasions over the last 30 years when I have taken significant amounts of counselling. Both courses of counselling helped, but I never reached a point where I could fully understand and, more importantly be comfortable, with myself.

Earlier this year I could feel myself sliding backwards following some major changes in my life and, at first I resisted going for counselling again. In the end I knew that without help I was going to be in trouble.

I chose Di as my counsellor because I felt that she would help me find, focus on, and address the difficult areas and at the same time operate with empathy and kindness.

Di’s insightful observations, support and kindness helped me recognise behavioural and thought patterns that had served me well in the past but now had far too much say in how I lived my life. It was challenging but I was given the space to explore safely and without judgement. I was able to heal from my past, keep the good things, and move on with my life in a much more positive frame of mind.

I truly believe that Di’s approach has given me the breakthrough that my previous counselling sessions didn’t.

I highly recommend Di and her approach to counselling.

I’ve been in and out of therapy for more than 30 years: counselling, CBT and group therapy. Although this helped me to understand some of the reasons why I think the way I do, I never felt that any of it facilitated a positive change.

A couple of years ago I looked around for a new counsellor to help me through some recent relationship issues. Speaking to Di on the phone, I immediately felt a rapport and decided that this was someone I could be fully open with.

I’ve now been meeting with her in person every week for more than two years, and I can honestly say that this is the first time I have felt a shift in my thought patterns.  In every part of my life I feel that I am better able to value myself, set boundaries and move forward with optimism.

If I had to summarise Di’s approach in a single word I would say ‘gentle’. Although she appropriately challenges unhelpful thoughts and behaviours, she does it almost without my noticing.  Sometimes it’s only when I look back that I realise just how far I have come since I started counselling with Di. With infinite kindness she helps me to fully know myself: understanding my attachment style, celebrating my strengths and confronting my weaknesses, and recently supporting me in obtaining a diagnosis of ADHD.

If you’re seeking counselling it’s important to find someone you feel comfortable with. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Di, whether for a particular problem or for long term work on deeper issues.

Thank you Di!
